Alpaca Blanket Project Quick Facts:

• There is no fee to join the Alpaca Blanket Project.  Just fill out the membership form and make a small fiber donation.
  
  
• Your fiber is used to create high-quality blankets made from 100% US alpacas.
  
  
• The Alpaca Blanket Project currently pays:

  	Huacaya (Grades 1 - 3)		$3/lb
  	Huacaya (Grades 4 & 5)		$2/lb
  	Suri (Grades 1 - 3)		$2/lb
  	Suri (Grades 4 & 5)		$1/lb

  
  
• Each year, the Alpaca Blanket Project pays more for the fiber than the previous year.  By both paying you for your fiber, and by allowing you to purchase products at the rate of cost + 3%, the Alpaca Blanket Project is helping to create a viable and sustainable market for your fiber.
  
  
• There is no obligation to purchase the blankets, or any other end-products.  However, if you wish to do so, you may purchase the blankets at wholesale cost.
  
  
• You will be provided with sorting/grading information about your fiber.  This will help you determine how your breeding program compares to commercial standards, as well as gauge the health and viability of your fleeces.
  
  
• By dropping your fiber off at Criative Acres, you will not be responsible for shipping costs on your prime fleece.  You will be charged a reduced rate on shipping for all second cuttings and neck fiber.
  
  

Collection Guidelines:

• Please place your fleece separated by color into clear bags (no black/green trash bags).
  
  
• Identify your bags with your farm number, color, and alpaca identifier (FARM# - COLOR - ANIMAL#).  Please use a Sharpie or other permanent marker.
  
  
• You do not have to skirt or sort your fiber if free of second cuts and debris.
  
  
• Fiber shall be either suri or huacaya between 2 and 5 inches in length with minimal second cuts, medullation, or debris.  It shall not be above 31 microns. It shall not be tumbled.
